I take playtesting very seriously as a form of intelligence gathering, requiring critical thinking, dialectical reasoning, and persistence. User data has the most significant impact on the project pipeline, even in a waterfall approach. No matter how well predicted and crafted, the material reality will always contradict the abstract vision. Competent, analytical playtesting helps guide the team through the journey. The playtest must be seen as an opportunity not just for present, but for the future.
